As we snooze with the afternoon light
Rays of light dancing across my striped skin
I look at you
With pleading eyes
And beg
"Promise me you won't forget this feeling?
No matter what the future holds,
remember this memory
and how sweet our love bloomed”
You laugh
And tell me that you won't need reminding
Because in 40 years, it'll still be us two
Lying in bed
Drunk off lust
Your hands caressing my curves
We never made it to old age together
Hell, we couldn't even make it 10 years
Whatever bloomed between us that night
Withered and turned into something foul
Never again do I want to think of those moments
Because it forces me to remember the person you became
Never again do I want to dwell on the thought of us
Recalling the memories only brings pain.
